A Spatial Improved-kNN-Based Flood Inundation Risk Framework for Urban Tourism under Two Rainfall Scenarios

چکیده

Urban tourism has been suffering socio-economic challenges from flood inundation risk (FIR) triggered by extraordinary rainfall under climate extremes. The evaluation of FIR is essential for mitigating economic losses, and even casualties. This study proposes an innovative spatial framework integrating improved k-nearest neighbor (kNN), remote sensing (RS), geographic information system (GIS) to analyze sites. Shanghai, China, was selected as a case study. Tempo-spatial factors, including climate, topography, drainage, vegetation, soil, were generate several flood-related gridded indicators inputs into the framework. A likelihood mapped represent possible tourist sites moderate-heavy scenario extreme scenario. resultant map verified maximum extent merged RS images water bodies. outcomes deliver baseline scientific urban planners policymakers take cost-effective measures decreasing evading pressure on sustainable development tourism. improved-kNN-based provides innovative, effective, easy-to-use approach evaluate industry change.

Tidal Flood Risk in London Under Stabilisation Scenarios

The Thames tidal defences are the UK’s most complex and costly flood defence system and of global significance both as a feat of engineering and in terms of the value of assets protected from flooding. The system includes 200km of dikes on the Thames Estuary and the Thames Barrier, built in the 1970s to protect against a storm surge with an annual probability of 0.001 in 2030. Planning is now u...

A Framework for Flood Risk Analysis and Benefit Assessment of Flood Control Measures in Urban Areas

Flood risk analysis is more complex in urban areas than that in rural areas because of their closely packed buildings, different kinds of land uses, and large number of flood control works and drainage systems. The purpose of this paper is to propose a practical framework for flood risk analysis and benefit assessment of flood control measures in urban areas. Based on the concept of disaster ri...

GIS and Flood Inundation Model-Based

Abstract: This paper presents the methodology and procedure for flood risk assessment using GIS and flood inundation model (FIM) based on the “micro-zonation concept” in which an entire floodplain considered is divided into numerous unit areas (meshes or grids). In this study, Shinkawa-river floodplain around Nagoya City of Aichi Prefecture in Japan an urbanized lowland area, which was greatly ...

The use of flood risk map for flood management (urban area of Nekarood)

Flood is considered as a major threat among natural disasters in the world. This case becomes more important and has a higher risk in urban areas due to the existence of important uses. Therefore, to reduce damages resulted from flood, this phenomenon must be managed and planned using structural and non-structural approaches. Considering the development in Iran has been carried out in high risk...

A Distributed Flood Inundation Model Integrating with Rainfall-runoff Processes Using Gis and Remote Sensing Data

Flood hazard is one of the most harmful disasters in the world, and it is significant to obtain information on flood characteristics for disaster mitigation as well as vulnerability assessment. This paper develops a distributed model for simulating flood inundation integrating with rainfall-runoff processes. The model is designed to apply the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) DEM data and...
